BITCOIN Bitcoin prices took a tumble on Friday to an all-month low below $9,000, losing 23 percent in value since the start of the week. But why is the volatile cryptocurrency falling today?
The bearish performance comes off the back of BTC losing $1,000 in the space of an hour on Wednesday afternoon, in the wake of a US regulatory crackdown on crypto exchanges.
At its current 7.27am GMT prices, bitcoin has deprecated by 22.9 percent since the start of the week.
Other virtual tokens were not spared the havoc, with the second biggest token by market cap Ethereum, losing more than $100 in value since Wednesday.
