Fall or Spring Is Knocking On Our doors

Depending on where you live in the world, the changing of the season is coming closer each day.

For some of you, this means harvesting is your main occupation - maybe you're even sowing or planting some winter crops - for others, making plans and deciding which crops to grow becomes more exciting every day.

This SteemIt Community Challenge allows you to share your monthly garden updates with your fellow Steemians.

This is already the fourth edition.

If you want to check out the previous editions, you can use the links below to visit them:

🌺 SteemIt Community Garden Journal Early June

🌺 SteemIt Community Garden Journal Challenge July

Last Time’s Contributors.

The third edition had quite a lot of entries. There were many fellow Steemians who allowed us to take a peek into their garden.

For that, I’d like to thank @thelaundrylady, @yogajill, @goldendawne, @goldenoakarm, @jamrubio, @wizardave, @lynncoyle1, @porters, @buckaroo and @abitcoinskeptic

But it's hard to believe there aren't more of you gardeners out there who are dying to show off your garden. If you haven’t joined before, feel free to start now. It’s never too late to show off the beauties you have in your garden/on your farm or balcony.

The Challenge

The rules of the challenge haven’t changed:

rules.jpgClick Image To Enlarge

Please also include a link back to this challenge somewhere in your pot.

You can include whatever you want in your post, but please remember that the pictures should be the most important aspect of your post.

filmstrip-2208127_1280.jpg

Show us how your plants, herbs, flowers or vegetables are doing. Share what you’ve been doing in your garden. Let us know if you are dealing with things like fungus, caterpillars, aphids, and - even more important - hów you’re dealing with those.
In short, tell us the story of your garden.

🏆 The Upvotes

Both your entry posts as your entry comment will receive a 100% upvote from my account. With the price of Steem hitting rock bottom, that might not be such a huge amount, but it's better than nothing, right.

I'm also going to try to give every entry an extra reward, but since that will be an experiment, I'm not sure I will be able to pull it off - so I'm not going to reveal too much about that yet.

divider.jpg

🏆 The Winners

Next to the upvotes on your posts and comments, I will also distribute two types of rewards.

I’ll reward the top 2 posts with a 3SBD prize.

I’ll also give away a @steembasicincome share to 2 randomly chosen resteemers.

A membership of @steembasicincome will basically give you 1 share in the initiative, which will give you a small upvote on all your posts. The more shares you get, the more this upvote will be worth. You can read more about the @Steembasicincome initiative here.

Prizes will be distributed once I get the winners post up.

divider.jpg

Deadline

Prefrrably, I'd like to receive all entries before this post pays out in7 days, but entries will be accepted up until the day I post the winners post.
I can't really make any promises when that will be. If I have the time and energy, it will be up 7 days from now, but as you might have noticed during the last edition, it might take a little longer.

To be 100% sure your entry will be submitted in time, I suggest you stick to the 7-day period in which this post is still relevant.

Grab That Camera

If you haven’t already, grab that camera and shoot some amazing pics from your garden. I’m pretty sure I’m not the only one that is curious about how it has changed during this last month.

I hope you will see the benefits of this ‘challenge’, and help me build a community of garden lovers, which will grow together and help each other out when needed.

I'm so sorry I am just too late for the payout but here is my post:
What's going on in my garden in August?
I was looking forward to writing this all week but wanted to include the compost pics and could only get the compost today..
This is really an awesome contest @simplymike! May I use the hashtag #gardenjournal2018 for other garden entries e.g. on Steepshot, or if I create other garden entries?

Hey @wildwanderer,

I told @foxyspirit a couple of days ago that I would leave the contest open for entries a little longer. I don't even have the time to get my own post up within a week, how can i expect from others they can, lol.

I encourage to use the hashtag for every garden post you make, even when the contest isn't running. That way, we'll get a nice collection of gardening journals throughout the year.

Thanks for posting your entry, I really enjoyed reading it.

Phew! Awesome! I’m so excited about my garden this year! This is a really fun contest! I’ve been enjoying reading and learning from the posts from other people!

That was exactly my intention: enjoying more gardens then just my own, while picking up something new here and there. So far, I consider it to be a success. Reading all those updates, watching all those pics... it always brings a smile to my face :0)

Hello, this is my entrance, I present my little garden, where I grow some vegetables and fruits; where some of the crops are given and others do not, but always with the grace of God I receive some harvest that provides me and I can enjoy its natural benefits. Experience the contact with nature directly and learn every day that passes more about it and everything it has to offer, which I think is a great supervenience.

Wow! Thank-you ❤

Thanks, @yogajill. Having the privilige to take a look inside your garden is always a real pleasure.

I've rewarded a more recent post of you with a 100% upvote, and I did the same for this comment. Since my 100% upvote still isn't worth a whole lot, I increased the value with asmall extra vote from @danlupi. My way of saying thanks for joining again :0)

Thanks for joining again, @wolfheart. It is always a pleasure to read your updates.

Thank you @simplymike that's nice of you to say and nice to hear

My post "Some Wins, Some Losses. It's All a Part of Gardening." is now live and is my entry for the SteemIt Community Garden Journal Challenge # 4.
See it at: https://steemit.com/gardenjournal2018/@porters/some-wins-some-losses-it-s-all-a-part-of-gardening Thanks for running this challenge @simplymike !

Thank you for the upvote!

Thanks for joining again, @porters. I'm so in love with that deck of yours where you are growing your herbs :0)
Another great update, thanks!

Hey, Thanks for putting on this challenge and inspiring me to get out and take some pictures to share. I love hanging out on the deck too. It's the best place to get away from the mosquitoes.

Nlt to mention the place is simpy adorable. I don't think I would mind a couple of mosquitos while sitting there :0)

@tecnosgirl maybe a nice community to get involved in. Just a suggestion😄

A vandal destroyed my garden it is partly why we got a security system they also have been throwing broken glass where the dogs play. Gonna make some vandal famous if they keep it up.

oh no! I remember you saying that on the phone now. Yeah make a celebrity out of the bandits😊

Next year I will have it behind a fence

Glad to see that you're keeping this challenge going @simplymike :)

Here's one for you: Two of my favorite plants were blooming and growing so nicely, then Buddy decided to go crazy one night chasing a huge cockroach and smashed them both. Missed the damn roach too :)

Oh nooo! And then even missed the roach... :0(
The roach was probably an excuse to be able to kill gbe plants.
I promise you, Buddy, soon I'll make a series of 'cat journal' posts!

haha @simplymike, oh he's caught one before and brought it in the apartment to play with! I only knew because he let it go and it ran by and grazed by ankle ... so disgusting!!! We killed it then he "yelled" at us all night haha

Lol. How I wish I was good at drawing cartoons. This one would be perfect :0)

haha you and me both @simplymike! You can just see it in your mind's eye though, can't you ?😅😅

True, and completely perfect. Until I take something to draw, lol.
It's weird how something can be so clear in your head, and the cartoon ends up like it has been drawn by a 3-year old, hahaha

Right??!!! I hate that my hand just won't do what my brain is saying!

Oh dear!! Those pesky roaches anyways 😯

Meow 🐱 Bahaha! (I am a bit afraid to care for a cat oh my lanta! Facepalm!!) I hope Brian is feeling great! That you're both enjoying yourselves 💏🌷❤🌼

So soon. Luckily I have been busy in my garden. I have been pulling things out to dry and trying to get clippings to grow roots so I can plant them after the August heat wave. I also hope to get another round of leafy green veggies in near the end of August. Anyway I will post my update soon. PS gonna resteem again.

Thanks for the resteem.
I'm looking forward to your post.

Thanks for giving me a peek inside your gardën.
I almost forgot: I still have to do my own...

howdy simplymike! I'm not a gardener but wanted to stop by and show my support, great challenge you have here and beautiful post!

Thanks, @janton. Any support is always appreciated :0
Thanks for dropping by!

well good evening there.. you're so welcome simplymike and God bless you for all you do to help others.

I love gardening. When I had a landed house, I spent a lot of time in the garden till my kids complained that I've got floweritis... No idea how they got this name for me.

When we move into a condominium, there was only the balcony which I could put some of my little herb garden up. Still in the process of decorating it up.

Will definitely share & ask for your expert advise.

I'm looking forward to it. I started with a small balcony on which I grew my herbs.
You don't need a lot of space to fall victim to floweritis :0)

I got so lazy this year, I didn't get around to planting a thing on my balcony. The best I could do would be a picture of a nearly dead succulent, and I didn't even know those things could die :P

Fun contest though!

Me neither, still I managed to kill a whole bunch of them last year.

Ooooo @simplymike! Almost spring so this should be a little more of a colourful time of year in South Africa! By next month I will have a bundle of goatie babies - hopefully not in our gardens though! Looking forward to everyone's change of season

Oooh, I love goat babies... <3
Can't wait!

My favourite time of year - kidding!

And here it is @simplymike. Not at the very last second, like last month. Included some goats of course. Hope you enjoy the cyber wander through our winter gardens

Thank you very much @danlupi

about agriculture?

This is very nice. because in addition to having the opportunity to win, we can also know what pests attack our plants. we can find out from the people who commented.

Thanks. That was actually the idea behind it.
My own update will probably include an 'infection' of spider mote that has been effecting a lot of my plants. I haven't found a real cure yet, but as soon as I do, I will share it.

It's awesome encouraging gardening. I have plants top here and there not a specific garden area. Lets see what can be given.

Anything is welcome here in the challenge, so feel free to show us what you have :0)

Oooh, brilliant! Except Mom is the gardener....can I post on her behalf? Hahahaha!

Looking forward to seeing all the entries on this one!

What great timing! I was already planning to write a post about my garden today. I haven't done any updates on it in a long time. What better to share it than in an awesome contest like this <3 Thank you so much!

I'm already looking forward to it @foxyspirit. Remember to leave a link to your post here in the comments section :0)

Hopefully I can get it out on time. I am having problems with my computer.

No rush! I haven't even started mine. We'll just add a couple of extra days to the deadline :0)

I think I can do it today with all good things on my side. Very, very generous of you to add extra days <3
