If you do these 3 things you will live a healthy and vibrant life.
Knowing what a healthy life requires is your first step in making your life happier and better. If you make the following three actions a part of your lifestyle you will guarantee yourself a healthy and vibrant life!
1. Develop a positive mindset
The quality of your life is directly related to the quality of your thoughts. Ask yourself these two questions:
Is it within my control to think positively?
Am I willing to put work into thinking better and more positively?
If you say yes to both you have started on an exciting path!
I can’t tell you that thinking positively is always an easy thing to do, but I can tell you that every single person, with effort, can move one step towards positive thinking. I can also tell you that if you take a lot of those little steps it will eventually add up to something big.
Activity: Execute these three steps:
- Recognize a moment where negative thoughts have feeling down.
- Think of anything positive to you (a person you love, a fun memory, your favorite hobby, etc.)
- For just a moment, replace the negative thought with your new positive thought.
This sequence isn’t exactly easy, especially not at first. But it is within every person’s control. And once you do it just one time you then hold the key to turning negative thoughts positive for the rest of your life.
2. Care about getting quality Sleep/Water/Food.
No human being will ever find a way around the necessity of these three things. Why would you even want to? If you honor yourself by caring about your sleep, water, and food then a vibrant life becomes a natural extension.
This isn’t the time to go deeply in to all three areas. What I will do is sum up all three, and how you can guarantee yourself a good life, in this one sentence:
Sleep 8 hours every night, drink clean water constantly, and eat only real food.
Maybe one or all three of these are no where close to your current reality, but if that’s the case then I bet you’re also not as far away as you think either. The key to creating the change you want will lie in our third step:
3. Focus on simple, small changes.
Your mind and body are changing at all times. Try to stop them from changing for even a single moment and I promise that you will fail. But why would you want them to stop changing? This is what your life is, and it’s awesome. Be thankful for it!
It’s important to understand that your mind and body only change in small ways. You never go to bed and wake up 20 pounds heavier, or lighter, or younger, or much older. You wake up just a slightly different person. So slight that you don’t really recognize it and you probably feel like the same person who went to bed. You are constantly changing in very small ways, and never in large ways quickly.
Once you recognize this, you should never again take on a massive change, like changing your diet completely (which so many people do only to fail in almost all cases!). Focus on one small change at a time. Your body and mind love this because it’s in line with how they function. Of course, you’ll never drop 20 pounds in a month, but if that’s what you want then you’re probably someone who finds themselves rooted in an unhealthy lifestyle and it’s worth trying something new!
Here are examples of simple small goals:
Sleep - If you sleep 5 hours a night, set a goal of setting a bed time tonight that will give you 5.5 hours of sleep.
Water - Drink two more glasses of water today than is normal, one extra glass sometime in the morning and another in the evening.
Food - Think of one vegetable you’d like to eat more often and add it to any meal or snack today.
Building these three steps into your lifestyle will guarantee you a vibrant life:
- Think positively
- Get quality sleep/water/food
- Make small changes
