PALE RIDER (1985) - Classic Movie Review
My Rating - 4.5/5
"I heard the fourth beast said: "Come and see." And I looked, and behold a pale horse. And his name that sat on him was Death. And Hell followed with him."
- Book of Revelation
It's interesting to look at the directorial approach Eastwood was taking on Western genre, after his portrayal of the iconic 'The Man with No Name'. Seems like he was very fond of the idea behind the character.
I've often heard Pale Rider being referred as a remake of Shane (1953), there certainly are enough similar elements to say that, but Pale Rider steps ahead of Shane conceptually, and I enjoyed Pale Rider more. Has a striking cinematography, Pale Rider certainly bring a similar vibe of Eastwood's earlier western High Plains Drifter (1973) too, although not as rich as that with substance.
More than an Actor, I would call Clint Eastwood a 'Star'. His screen persona holds a certain irresistible vibe. A great director without a doubt, and a star who defines a whole genre.
