INKTOBER DAY #1 FISH

in GEMS27 days ago

A cordial greeting friends! Today, the first day of October is starting to fill with art and ink thanks to the beginning of Inktober. This is my third consecutive year doing the challenge, I have decided again to use the official list in spite of the little legal problems that affected some artists last year. Despite having participated in the challenge for two years, I haven't been able to finish the list completely on time, so this year I'm coming with the batteries in place, so get ready to receive my art every day.

Also, I hope you join the challenge, it's a lot of fun and you gain a lot of artistic experience. If you don't want to use the official list, there are many other alternative lists, among them I can name those created by Drawlloween, Drawtober, The Geektower and Loish.

For this first day the theme is "fish", so I decided to work on the life and death of it, this little animal is fascinating in its simplicity, sailing with its beauty in deep and scary waters, although sometimes it can end up being the lunch of some cute kitten.

Materials:

  • Opaline Cardboard (A4)
  • HB Graphite Pencil
  • Black Ballpoint Pen
  • Black marker, fine tip

-Sketch:

I started sketching the idea with the HB graphite pencil, but not directly on the opaline, no, I did it in my sketchbook, there I can make all the crazy lines I want without fear of ruining the paper, thus building a more fluid and worked idea.

-Outline:

With the black pen I proceeded to delineate the entire drawing, making fluid strokes taking the sketch as a guide.

-Ink filling

It was time to fill in the black, since I had planned to have a dark background, it was time to put the black marker to work to carefully fill in the areas of solid black.

-Final Touches:

Finally the last lines arrive, using the black pen for these. Once the illustration was ready, I went to Photoshop to improve the image since my camera is not very good, adding more contrast between black and white, enhancing the ink and adding my user mark.

Tell me in the comments that you imagine when you see this illustration.

I'll leave you a little gif with the whole process in it, so you can better appreciate the step by step.

¿What is Inktober??

The Inktober is an initiative created by illustrator Jake Parker in 2009, with the aim of improving his artistic skills, but over the years has had a great impact on the international art community. The challenge is to make an ink drawing every day, hence its name, "ink" "tober" (October), although for the most part this is respected, many other artists prefer to stay in their comfort zone, so you can see illustrations made with watercolors, graphite, charcoal, digital and any existing technique.
