A sailors tail: SAIL Amsterdam [BLOG]

in WORLD OF XPILARlast month

Billed as the largest free nautical event in the world,

SAIL Amsterdam is a quinquennial (every five years) gathering of 600+ boats and tall ships that sail in a circuit in the Netherlands North Sea Canal before mooring in Amsterdam. Back in 2015 I was working on a ship called Welvaart - a Dutch 2 mast Clipper and we attend SAIL as well.

Our mission: We got guests 3 times a day and went a long thousands of other boats though the harbor of Amsterdam - five day's in a row. This means we get up at 8 - start working at 9 and end the day at around 1 in the night. Exhausting but worth it!

Our first day ended with a spectacular sunset and thousands of ships surrounding us.

On board of the Dageraad- a massive 40 meter 2 mast clipper - this time we were guests.

Another eve - another sunset and nothing else to see but ships ships ships.

One of my more artzy shots. There is a bridge right over parts of the harbor. A security guy was making sure that nothing unexpected happend. I guess there are worst jobs.

The Dutch are crazy but awesome the same time.

Just moments before Chris, my skipper, told me to get out my camera and start shooting because these moments usually just happen one time per life. Thanks skipper!

Our crew - me to the very right

The last day - party is almost over

After SAIL Amsterdam we needed to sail back to Enkhuizen and so we did. You see Chris (the skipper, to the left) and Kun having serious fun with a wind force 5 and all sails up.

Having such a hugh ship all for us alone! And yes, that's me :)

We where somewhere in there as well :) - Photo via Jeroen Apers This gives you an overview about the scale of this event.

Hi @ricpicks

It's right that @stef1 says "@xpilar will love it too"

I love sailing ships and ships of the older vintage.
We are so lucky that we have had several visits of the "tall ship race" in Fredrikstad, Norway. It is possible that you have been here yourself during the "tall ship race". I have many posts and videos that I have shared here on Steem about it.
Thank you for sharing the great photos with us
And Dream pictures with such a sunset

Wow Ric, that is AWESOME!!!

I am so overwhelmed with such huge event with thousands of different type of Sailing Ships and boats. I also wanted to be there and see i n live.

Actually @xpilar will love it too, there is smaller event takes place in Fredrikstad in Norway, where @xpialr is from.

Sunset and the sky with such cloud that made the scenery so beautiful.

My favorite photo is the third with huge gigantic sailing ships.

Also the photo of you and your crew looks great, all looking so happy. I bet you have memories for the whole life :)

Dear @ricpicks
By the decision of the WORLD of XPILAR team, 50SP has been delegated to you. You have become a member of the "14 days DIVING" project.
If you do not agree with participation in the project, let us know and we will withdraw the delegation.

Hey bambuka,

this is a great reward for posting here.

Thank you very much.

I did read the RULES and RECOMMENDATIONS post and understood the rules. What I do not understand is the 50sp... I noticed the (+50.004 STEEM) in my wallet. You are getting this back right? I am confused about this...I never saw this in my wallet, can you elaborate on this?

Fair winds!

Yes, at the end of the 14 days of the project, this delegation will be withdrawn. During this time, you should have time to become a larger fish. Increasing SP gives you more freedom of action :)

Some time has passed since I delegated 50SP to you. Your total SP has increased slightly during this time (responses, comments, etc.). This growth was reflected, among other things, at the number 50. Do not pay attention, these are too small numbers.
Just make your great community posts
WORLD OF XPILAR and support with comments from other contributors. You are one team now :)

haha, ok... i really dont get this Sp and why it gives me anything but you know what... i just will keep posting :-D

all the best!

...good idea: D
you are right, when you yourself have about 50SP, such an increase is no longer very felt. It's another matter when your SP15-20 ...
once again you won't write a post, you won't get a lot of editing, commenting, etc...
...The increase in SP within the program only serves as an opportunity for greater activity.
Anyway tailwind sir :-))
