My Actifit Report Card: June 20 2021
It was a really nice Father's day for me. Lots of busy things to do but my son and I managed to do a couple of rounds of disc golf.
We played our favorite eighteen basket course around noon. There were a lot of people out and we were sandwiched between a single player and a group of three. There were a lot of people out and about enjoying the park with baby strollers and dogs.
It all went pretty well except... On hole fifteen by the river there was a person parked with a stroller right in the shank zone. I suggested we play up just past her but my son wanted to play farther up the fairway.
When I threw there were a couple of dog walkers approaching rapidly. I wasn't really sure of the distance and wanted to make sure I didn't throw too long and get into their path. My son said something about it being in putter range when I was just about to throw a fairway driver.
I really underpowered the throw and it went high into the wind and faded into the river. Meh. :(
The lady who was was walking up to the basket with her hubby and dog said to my son, "Why don't you just throw another one into the river."
Kind of a rude thing to say for some people who in some ways were the cause of a rushed throw. In any case I just smiled and said, "Dont' encourage him."
She was trying to push my buttons and muttered some other stuff which I chose to ignore.
Her hubby was really nice and said something like, "Sorry about the disc in the river."
I guess this is why if you are really serious about your game you tend to like places where there are less interactions with people who just want to lolly gag around the park and not have to deal with people throwing things around. I get that. Maybe that is why specific golf courses became popular. At this point I really appreciate the high end disc golf courses even if you have to pay something to play there.
I might get my disc back someday. It had my name on it and the river tends to give up its bounty during high water when the discs wash down onto the sand bar.
The evening round went better and I won with a -1 to a +2. The noon round I won too but the scores were really not so good and my son deleted the card.
The houseplants are on the dinning room table - it's a sure sign of something to come:
