[Discussion Post] What is your favorite event in your country's history?
100 percent of the liquid rewards for this post will go towards rewarding engaging and relevant comments. . .
Hello everyone! First of all, I would like to thank everyone for their responses to last week's discussion. There was a ton of participation in regards to individual comments, but what was really cool were all of the little discussions that occurred between users. That is what this series is meant to encourage and incentivise, so keep it up! Each participant received 1.757 SBD for their comments last week. Make sure to comment here if you want a share of this week's liquid rewards!
Today is the 4th of July. For those of you who are unaware, that is the day when, in 1776, the United States declared its independence. In light of this patriotic day, and in hopes of learning a little something about some of the other cultures here on Steem, I have decided to make this week's discussion topic related to history:
What is your favorite event in your country's history, and why?
Maybe this event is very popular in your country, or maybe it's something small that happened near where you were born. Maybe it has a holiday, or maybe you think it deserves one.
Feel free to go into detail about the event, and even provide sources where helpful!
Thank you to these users for sponsoring these discussion posts!

Additional Information About My Use of Bidbot(s)
In addition to rewards from sponsors' upvotes, I am also committing to using bidbots to try to increase the amount of liquid rewards of these discussion posts so that there is more stake for rewarding engaging discussions. I know that the use of bidbots has been looked down upon, but I think an exception can be made when trying to enhance the community through rewarding positive discussion.
