Writers win 5 steem! Twenty-four hour short story for May 9--A robot falls in love with its owner.

The 24 hour short story challenge

(But you'll get a little more time than that...)

I am fascinated by science fiction writer Harlen Ellison writing short stories in a book store window.  He wrote short stories with everyone watching for years, and people questioned if he already had the stories, so he began to take suggestions for topics from people watching.  Chris Carter of X-files fame gave him the topic of a 102-year-old pregnant corpse, and he wrote a story based on that idea.

So thus the idea behind this contest was born.  You can write a short story in a short amount of time.
Check out the entries from last week's contest.

Here are the terms of the contest.

Write a short story no longer than 2,000 words, based on the topic phrase.

Here is the topic for you short story:

A robot fall in love with its owner.

Feel free to use other tags as you wish.

Prizes are:5 Steem for First Place.

3 Steem for Second Place And depending on how many entries I receive I may give out Steem for other entries.  But again that all depends on the amount and quality of posts.

Oh I posted this in time, but for some reason my comment didn't go through! Hopefully I am not too late with my entry, Built to Love I had so much fun with this prompt! Thank you!

You're fine. It's still Tuesday.

every week you chose the great subject....i mostly like the theme.

Hey great contest again. I'll write my story again. I got interest in writing fiction from your contests only. I'll continue to improve with such interesting ones.
Here goes my upvote for you. Small upvote though.

Cool man! I appreciate it. Keep writing!

I look forward to reading it and being terrified.

Nah, this would be my cute side :P

Edit: Harlan would probably have
said something about his name
being spelled Harlen.

Good typo catch.

Such a generous theme for this round! Here is my entry: https://steemit.com/twentyfourhourshortstory/@marie-jay/sweet-elsie-story

I'm still a little brain dead from finals but I cranked out a submission real quick. I figured it wouldn't be fair to use too much time because I already had a character handy, just had to write a story from a perspective I'd never thought of before.

I will try for first time

Look forward to reading your entry. (You've already earned a little Steem, by your comment.)

Hey. I'll be posting a short story through a scheduled post. It'll post while I'm asleep, before the deadline.

However, I'll likely be unable to post a comment linking my post before I wake up. So, in case that happens, I'm letting you know now.

Oh! I want to be a writer in a book store front...
Sounds like a great experience... although I'm not sure I'd last years...
Great contest, going to brood over something!

Ok, this was a very inspiring prompt, somehow :P
So I wrote & finished my story for this contest already... https://steemit.com/twentyfourhourshortstory/@nobyeni/love-please-original-flash-fiction

Me too, although I'm not sure I'd last a week.

He did it to show that writing is like being a plumber or carpenter. You just go to work. I love that. Takes the mystery and stress out of writing.

Great contest, too bad I'm only seeing these now. And an excellent prompt that I couldn't resist.

I've written the story. Great theme suggestion. It's been a long time since I tried to write science fiction. I seem to be bogged down in nonfiction lately.

Thanks for running this contest. I have resteemed your post and upvoted, of course.

Thanks! I look forward to checking it out.
