ADSactly Witness Report 2018/06/24
Witness Update Report #15
Another week has passed and everything is purring like a little kitten, no missed blocks, our server has been stable with no down time. We have unfortunately dropped in witness ranking just outside of the top 50, down to 51, but we are working hard to move up in the rankings.
We were very honoured to have been invited to the Steemit Ramble Witness Chat, which took place last week, organised and hosted by @shadowspub in the Steemit Ramble discord server. These conversations are very important to have within our community, it ensures that we move forward with the best interests of all the users on the platform, as well as discuss ways in which we can improve the platform. These were the witnesses who joined, @c0ff33a @drakos @enginewitty @followbtcnews (@crimsonclad) @jackmiller @lukestokes @mahdiyari @noblewitness (@rhondak @anarcho-andrei) @qurator (@scrooger) @ro-witness (@alexvan) @therealwolf @timcliff @ura-soul @yehey @gmuxx (@noblewitness) @ats-david (@ats-witness). The next witness chat will take place on Saturday July 21st at 11am EDT / 3pm UTC, we encourage all to join.
ADSactly Education :
We have decided that as part of our weekly Witness Report post, we will be choosing different technical topics to discuss.
Please feel free to request a topic in the comment section.
ADSactly Steemit Help - Comments
When people arrive on the Steemit platform there can be a lot to take in. The big question people will ask is how to get people to follow them and vote for them? Besides having good content the best answer to the question is COMMENTS.
Steemit allows readers to comment on other people posts and give feedback or opinions about what they have read. By commenting on someone's post you are engaging with that community member. The more posts you comment on, the more community members you will be engaging with.
It might take a little time but as you are commenting on other posts then those people will start responding and engaging with you. Eventually, those people will start clicking on your name and coming over to your posts to check out what you are doing. In time you will build a small following and that will be mainly due to the work you do with your engagement with the community through comments.
Commenting can be a great way to get your SP moving up. Good comments will often get voted on by the author. Make sure that you have also voted on the post. Don’t just comment and hope for an upvote without having voted for the post yourself.
Many people think that their vote is too small to matter and therefore don’t vote. Know that every vote matters and you grow support by voting and supporting others.
There are some things that you should consider when commenting on posts.
READ the post!!! Don’t comment on something that you have not taken the time to read.
Make your comments relevant and on topic. Show the author that you have taken the time to actually read the post by talking about things that interested you or you thought were important. When the author sees this they are more likely to vote for your comments and even check out your own posts.
Avoid comments like “Awesome” or “Great Post”. These comments although nice do not show that you have bothered to read the content. It is easy to spam these types of comments to a lot of posts but they will not get the response you are hoping for. In fact, some consider these types of comments to be spam.
Avoid asking for people to upvote you or follow you in your comments. The way you engage with the community should be genuine and the relationship developed over time will be based on those interactions. Often these types of comments will be ignored or treated like spam.
Do Not copy someone else's comment and post it as your own. Even if you think that it was a great comment, this is plagiarism. YES, even comments can be plagiarised.
Have fun. The whole point here on Steemit is to engage and have fun with other content producers.
Finally, try to follow people who are producing content that you are interested in. It can be easy to get caught up in chasing whale votes but if you are reading stuff you don’t enjoy and commenting on it then your comments will be less engaging. You comments are going to be more passionate when you are commenting on posts about things you are interested in. This will create a stronger connection with those Steemians you are meeting along the way.
We have an exciting project happening this week. Some of our community managers will be hosting a live voice chat, speaking with with some of the Post of the Day winners, and discussing points that they think are important for minnows to know. Watch this space to hear more about it.
We welcome you to join the society, meet and talk to people, make friends and establish relations with other ADSactly members. You will receive ADSactly community units just for showing up and taking part in our voice hangouts, for helping out with promotions, for helping new members feel welcomed, showing them around and helping them get familiar with the society, for finding new projects that might catch interest of other members. Sometimes even for being generally a good person willing to help others.
